There are only three things you need to know about Amazon Prime’s latest movie Sitting in Bars With Cake: it’s all about cake, female friendships, and Yara Shahidi. Oh, and Bette Midler is there too, somehow.
Loosely inspired by a true story, Sitting in Bars With Cake follows Jane (Yara Shahidi) and her bestie Corinne as they decide to bake cakes and bring them to bars — aka cakebarring — in an attempt to help Jane get out of her shell, gain confidence, and meet people (and guys!).
Things take a turn when Corinne gets sick and Jane becomes her caregiver. But Corinne is determined to continue cakebarring, even when she’s at her worst.
The movie is super cute and heart-warming. Not to mention that Yara looks completely gorgeous!
