Spotify is debuting a show that brings a new twist to a well-known format.
Entitled Traffic Jams, the show bears an eerie resemblance to Carpool Karaoke.
The show debuts on April 4th and the Apple Music Carpool Karaoke series is also slated to premiere in April.
According to Variety,
‘Traffic Jams teams up well-known hip-hop producers and rappers and challenges them to produce a track in the backseat of a driving car. The first episode of the show… features T-Pain and Southside, who has previously produced music for Gucci Mane and Meek Mill, among others. Both of them have never worked together, and have to come up with an entire track while being driven around Los Angeles, only to perform it in front of a live audience at the end of their ride.”
Seems like a fun twist! The vehicle driver is comedian DoBoy (Wild ‘n Out).
Some argue that the show is just a knock-off of Carpool Karaoke. I think it seems different enough to work, but we will have to wait and see. Plus let’s be real, isn’t everything a spin-off, reboot, rip-off, or sequel these days?
