Turns out the I Am a Muslim Too rally wasn’t the only big thing to happen this weekend. Scientists and environmental activists gathered together in Boston to send a very big message to the president in an effort to #StandUpForScience.
The protest, held in Copley square, drew hundreds of supporters, including professors and students from MIT and Harvard.
This weekend turned out to be perfect timing: with the weather above 50 degrees in Boston, there was never a more perfect time to prove that climate change is, in fact, very, very real (an irony that did not escape the protestors).
Postdoctoral fellow Geoffrey Supran told ABC,
“We’re really trying to send a message today to Mr. Trump that America runs on science, science is the backbone of our prosperity and progress.”
This won’t be the only rally for science. Another protest is scheduled for the spring in Washington, D.C. The March for Science will be held at the National Mall on Earth Day aka April 22.
Will you be there?
