As we inch closer and closer to 1989 (Taylor’s Version), we can’t help but feel nostalgic for Taylor Swift’s original 1989 era.
1989 was the era of matching two-piece sets, a *major* haircut, and Taylor poking fun at her reputation. It was the era of the iconic “Blank Space” music video, polaroids, and “Shake It Off” being played on the radio all the time.
Released back in 2014 (were we ever so young?), 1989 was Taylor’s first entirely pop album. But fans and critics alike absolutely loved every minute of it. Not only did 1989 have three Billboard Hot 100 Number #1s, but it also won Album of the Year at the 2016 Grammys.
1989 was also a huge departure from her past albums aesthetically, which often showcased her long curly hair and at least one princess dress. But 1989 Taylor was all grown up. No more princess dresses. Instead, she was bearing her midriff and rocking short shorts.
