We have some devastating news for Bachelorette fans everywhere: Dr. Joe Park doesn’t want to be the first Asian Bachelor.
After getting dumped by Tayshia Adams, Joe spoke with EW about his time on The Bachelorette and whether he would be willing to be the Bachelor. Unfortunately, Joe wasn’t so keen on the idea. He said,
“Man, I hope I’m not still single by 2022. I hope I’m in a committed relationship by then! I appreciate it, don’t get me wrong. It’s flattering. But it’s like, jeeze, I’m not getting any younger.”
But what about Bachelor in Paradise? Joe says,
“I would say the same thing. Though I didn’t unfortunately find love on this show, I realized that love is possible from this show. I think it’s something you have to evaluate when [the opportunity] happens. It’s hard to say now.”
Joe became a fan favorite pretty quickly after Tayshia arrived on the scene. On top of that, he also happens to be one of the only Asian male contestants on The Bachelorette to survive the first rose ceremony.
In most seasons, they have one token Asian contestant who is quickly kicked off the show.
But Joe survived long enough to appear in a few episodes and had the chance to show fans his winning personality, charm, and truly sweet nature. The anesthesiologist may not have won the heart of Tayshia but he definitely won the hearts of fans.
As for who he thinks Tayshia should end up with? Joe is totally Team Brendan. He explained,
“I mean, I fell in love with Brendan. They had a one-on-one and it seems like they had a great time. I think he’s definitely a top dog. Outside of just being like a gorgeous human being, he’s a great listener and he’s very thoughtful. He’s just somebody who you want to be around. He’s really funny, he has that off-the-cuff, subtle humor.”
He’s also a huge fan of Ivan, who he said is a really great dude, really smart, and has a good heart. He added that Ivan was “obviously a stud.”
Ivan seems to be a front-runner, especially after he and Tayshia got into a rather deep conversation about growing up biracial and coping with police brutality.
Only time will tell who Tayshia ultimately ends up with (or, you know, RealitySteve can tell you too).
The Bachelorette airs Tuesdays at 8 PM EST.
