Watch choker necklaces are having a moment — and it’s all thanks to Taylor Swift.

Taylor first rocked the unique accessory on the 2024 Grammys red carpet where she wore a custom Lorraine Schwartz vintage concord watch inlaid in a band of black diamonds.

We didn’t know it at the time, but the look evoked The Tortured Poets Department era to come, in which she’s embrace a romantic goth aesthetic.

But Taylor wasn’t quite done with the statement necklace. In her new ‘Fortnight’ music video, Taylor wears an absolutely gorgeous custom Joseph Saidian & Sons vintage diamond watch choker necklace.

To be completely fair, Taylor wasn’t the first to rock this accessory — although she definitely did master it.

In June 2023, Rihanna attended the Louis Vuitton show in Paris wearing a custom Jacob & Co 30-ct Oversized Watch Choker Necklace, but fans weren’t exactly impressed.

But Taylor’s watch chokers have proven to be a big hit and have inspired a rise in the creation of the style.

On Etsy, you can find numerous, unique watch choker necklaces embellished with everything from pearls to chains to charms. And while you might not be able to get a custom-made piece like Taylor, you’ll certainly be able to find one-of-a-kind pieces that will have everyone talking. Not to mention that most of the necklaces cost $30-$40, a vast improvement from Rihanna’s necklace that supposedly cost $670K.
