Tory Burch launched a new campaign to encourage women to embrace ambition.
Just in time for International Women’s Day, Burch‘s newest PSA has a star-studded cast including Kerry Washington, Reese Witherspoon, Julianne Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow, Yara Shahidi, Jon Hamm and more telling women to be persistent, don’t apologize and to never give up on your hopes and dreams.
Burch spoke about why she chose who she did for the PSA, saying,
“The people in the PSA are people I admire and that have been vocal or lived their lives in a way that shows that this is meaningful and this is not a partisan issue. This is a human rights issue, women should have equal rights. It should be a give-in.”
Burch also talked to People about what the word ambition means to her and how women should use that word with pride.
“When ambition describes a man it’s celebrated and with a woman, it seems a bit distasteful and crass. There is a stigma… There was an article in the New York Times that was written and a friend called me after and said, ‘I love the article but you shied away from the word ambition.’ And she was absolutely right… I think it’s important for women, for men to encourage women to embrace their ambition.”
People can go to toryburch.com and torysport.com to buy items as part of the campaign and the proceeds all go to the Tory Burch Foundation, which empowers women entrepreneurs in the United States.
Tory Burch has long used her fame to for a cause and most recently encouraged employers to give their employees the day off to vote this past November.
