Lala Kent is trying desperately to bring a little female empowerment to Vanderpump Rules and the ladies are just not buying it.
Call Lala what you want, but the girl is one of the most genuine on the show. And one of her passions is trying to get women to support other women.
This season, she’s been trying to mend bridges, specifically between Scheana and Katie, but neither seems to want to bite. She continually tries to tell them to stop talking smack about each other, but in the most recent episode, she got drunk and lost her shit as nobody seemed to want to listen.
But I’m totally digging Lala‘s vibes this season and even if she hasn’t been *completely* successful, I truly appreciate her attempts. It’s a welcome change from the constant infighting and girl-on-girl hate that constantly surrounds Vanderpump Rules.
Earlier this season, she had a heart-to-heart with Ariana, who admitted that she’s super subconscious about her vagina due to a past boyfriend’s verbal abuse. Lala told her,
“It sounds cheesy, but I literally do this every morning. I look in the mirror and I literally talk to every part of my body and I’m like, ‘I love you.’”
Hell, yes!
And her body positivity has continued off the show into real life as well. She previously posted a nude selfie to Instagram with the caption,
“Thin. Skinny. Super skinny. Thick. The thickest. Little bum. Small ass. Ass. Big booty. Whatever. Large. Medium. Small. Triple zero. I don’t care. Women unite, ladies rise. No one can tell us how to act, how to be, what to say. No matter what you believe in, what you look like, we are women and we are free. We are in this together. Boys, you’ll know if we want it. Our clothing or lack of, doesn’t mean a thing. We are doing things for ourselves now. We are living for us.”
She’s also tweeted out things like,
“Female is my religion. Women is my belief. #ladiesrise.”
Now, don’t get me wrong: I’m not saying she’s the perfect feminist. She’s certainly done her share of talking about the other women behind their backs and even told Katie last season that she clearly “hadn’t been working on her summer body,” which was definitely not ok.
But honestly, sometimes it’s hard to practice what you preach every second of the day (especially so if you’re a little tipsy). At the end of the day, I appreciate her efforts and her message. Keep it up, babe!
